Community hospitals being hit by staff shortages



The shortage of staff at Community Hospitals is having a direct impact on our hospital overcrowding crisis.

Sinn Fein is to raise the issue in the Dail today where the party will call for government commitment to the recruitment and retention of nurses.

Donegal TD Pearse Doherty says that the shortage of staff has led to six bed closures at Killybegs Community Hospital in recent years.

He says the problem has escalated since then with 41 beds closed in Community Hospitals right across Donegal since 2015 and action is now needed by government:
