Sligo’s Dean Clancy and Leitrim’s Dearbhla Rooney will both target a place in a European final today.
Manorhamilton’s Dearbhla Rooney is up first at the European Youth Championships in Italy and she will fight Russian opponent Valeriia Radionova in a bantamweight final shortly after lunchtime today.
In the evening sessions, which get underway from 5pm Irish time, Sligo town’s Dean Clancy will take on Ukrainian opponent Yurii Tomiuk in the flyweight semi-finals.
Both Irish boxers are already guaranteed bronze medals at least, but will secure at least a silver by winning today.
