Plans to restore old weighbridge in Donegal Town



There are plans to restore an old weighbridge hut that once stood in Donegal Town and use it again as an information centre for visitors and tourists.

The hut, which goes back to the 1800s, was a landmark on the Diamond in Donegal Town for decades.

The hut had been stored in a county council yard in Laghey and has now been restored in an effort led by Seamus Maguire, of Donegal Bay Rowing Club.

Donna Maskery of Donegal Railway Heritage Centre says the weighbridge hut is an important part of the history of the town:
