IFA say there must be no penalties for owners of Killery mountain burnt land



Landowners on Killery mountain are still hopeful that they will receive payments from the Government.

Hundred of acres of land on the mountain were destroyed by the blaze last May and at one point two homes in the area were at risk.

Farmers have since had their payments held up or withdrawn.

The Department of Agriculture has said that ‘no payments’ would be made on the illegally burnt land on Killery mountain. But Kevin Comiskey who is Chair of the IFA’s Sheep Committee in Leitrim, says he is still hopeful that a resolution will be reached….
