A rural community in west Sligo is taking action to highlight the issues around suicide.
Dromore West is hosting its first ‘Darkness into Light’ walk this May – the walk is run by the suicide awareness organisation Pieta House and takes place at locations nationwide and around the world.
Geraldine McCloat, event director says so many people from west Sligo were taking part in the nearby events in Ballina and Sligo, they felt a local event would be well-supported.
However, she says the main thing they want to do on May 12th is highlight the issues around suicide:
