Residents of Sligo Town estate hit by flooding call on local Councillor to resign



Residents who live at the Woodlands Estate in Ballytivnan in Sligo Town have called on Independent Alliance Cllr Marie Cassely to resign.

The estate has been hit by severe flooding on a number of occasions over the last number of years.

At the March meeting of Sligo County Council Cllr Marie Casserly said that funding would be announced before Easter for flood relief works for the Woodlands area.

But with Easter now past, there is still no sign of funding from the Department.

Michael Farrell, Chairperson of the Resident’s Association says Cllr Casserly should resign over what they have called ‘false promises’:

But Cllr Cassely has refuted the claims that she made false promises to the residents.

She says that money will be made available from the Department responsible shortly:
