Fisherman died after boat sinks off North Mayo coast



One man has died after the fishing boat he was on sank off the coast of Mayo this afternoon.

The dead man was in his late 50s and from the North Mayo area.

The other two men who were rescued have been taken to Sligo University Hospital.

The three crew members were working on board the boat when it began to sink off coast of Mayo, close to Broadhaven.

The Sligo-based 118 helicopter was dispatched immediatley along with the Ballyglass RNLI crew.

The three fishermen were found on a life raft after they lit flares to alert rescue teams of their location.

All three men were airlifted to hospital in Sligo, were one of the men was later pronounced dead.
