Four Aurivo marts to remain closed after man seriously injured by a bull at Mohill mart



Aurivo Co-op says it has taken a decision to close all four of its livestock marts this week in light of a serious accident at Mohill mart on Saturday.

A man in his 70s was seriously injured by an animal and had to be airlifted to Sligo University Hospital.

The man, a farmer in his 70s from the Mohill area remains in a serious condition in Sligo University Hospital following the incident at the mart on Saturday morning.

In a statement,  Aurivo which operates the mart said that Management and staff at Aurivo are offering their full support to the gentleman and his family, and will be co-operating with the relevant authorities as an investigation is conducted into the accident.

The Health and Safety Authority said today that they are aware of the incident and will be following up.

Aurivo has announced this lunchtime that its four livestock marts will remain closed this week following the accident.

The Co-op apologises for any inconvenience but says the decision taken by management is prudent as the health and safety of its customers, members and employees is of paramount importance.

The marts that will remain closed are Ballymote, Mohill, Ballinrobe and Balla Livestock Marts.
