Farmers say fodder crisis is a national emergency



The Irish Farmers Association is calling on the Government for a basic maintenance ration voucher scheme to stretch out whatever fodder is left in the country.

It comes as UK farmers raise concerns about the amount of fodder being imported into Ireland from Britain, which is now having a knock-on-effect there.

IFA regional chairman Nigel Renaghan says the situation is dire and the Government has to ‘step up’.
