Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says Strategic Communications Unit should be scrapped immediately and not July



Sinn Fein say they want to see Leo Varadkar’s Strategic Communications Unit scrapped immediatley, rather than in three months time.

It was announced by the Taoiseach yesterday that the controversial government information office, which is headed by Sligoman John Concannnon, will be wound down by July.

The 15 staff in the unit will be redistributed into other information services across government departments.

Sinn Fein had a motion passed in the Dail last week calling for the disbandment of the Social Communications Unit. Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says the Taoiseach was left with no choice….
