Long-awaited makeover of Sligo’s main shopping street put off until next year



 

Sligo County Council says it would still like to start some work on O’Connell Street in Sligo town this year despite the enhancement work being delayed by a number of months.

The Council confirmed yesterday that the long-awaited work which was set to start this summer has been postponed for a number of months.

It’s to consider further recommendations from a new report which could result in an even better streetscape design.

Director of Services Tom Kilfeather says in light of Sligo’s new status as a ‘Regional Hub’ it’s important they get it right and he is reassuring businesses that they will be kept up to date every step of the way:
