An Post warns locals to use Easkey Post office to secure its future



An Post is warning local people in Easkey to use the post office to secure its long-term future.

It follows confirmation yesterday that Easkey Post Office in west Sligo is to remain open.

There were fears it would close for good after the current postmaster retires.

But An Post has confirmed that the Bonniconlon Postmaster is now to take over postal services in the village on a yearly basis.

Speaking to Ocean FM News this morning, Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry said the government needs to look at providing more resources to An Post.

Fianna Fail Deputy MacSharry says urban areas are the obvious place to scale back postal services if needed:
