Charity collector robbed in Co Donegal

An investigation is under way after a man collecting money for a charity in Co Donegal was robbed.

The man was taking part in a bucket collection for a local sportsclub at Bridgend on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood that a passing car – a blue Peugeot 307 – slowed down as it approached the man, and the occupants of the car grabbed the bucket, before leaving the scene.
The charity collecter, who is in his 60s, was slightly injured.
The car was later found abandoned in the Carrigans area.
Superintendent Eugene McGovern said the man was very shaken by what had occurred.
He also said the area was busy at the time of the incident and appealed for witnesses to contact gardaí at Buncrana.
No arrests have been made.
