Survival the target for Donegal and Sligo ahead of final league fixtures

Donegal and Sligo are both aiming for survival in their final league games of the season on Sunday.

Donegal have to beat Mayo in Ballybofey on Sunday to stay in Division One and relegate Stephen Rochford’s side.

Donegal boss Declan Bonner says his side will have to match the physicality of their opponents…

And Sligo know that a win at home to Derry will ensure they remain in Division Three.

A defeat for Offaly against Westmeath will ensure that both Sligo and Derry survive, but Sligo boss Cathal Corey says that neither side can rely on favours from anyone else this weekend…

Leitrim also host Wicklow on Sunday, while their hurlers play Lancashire in the Division 3B league final.

The football is at 3pm in Carrick-on-Shannon’s Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada; while the hurling decider is in Cavan’s Ballyconnell at 12 noon, enabling Leitrim fans to attend both games.

Lancashire beat Leitrim by a point in Ballinamore when the sides met earlier in the league, but Leitrim boss Martin Cunniffe says his side were unfortunate not to get something out of that game, and they will be confident going into Sunday’s final…

Both the Sligo and Donegal games will be live on Ocean FM.
