Lough Talt water supply upgrade could start in six months

A Sligo/Leitrim TD has said that Irish Water should have a planning application in for an upgarde of the Lough Talk water supply by early May.

The bacteria cryptosporidium was detected in the supply last month.

13,000 customers on the supply have had to boil their water for all basic household tasks and especially for drinking since the start of February, and it is expected to be in place until at least early May.

Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says he’s hopeful that work on an upgrade will begin within six months….
