Harps looking to maintain unbeaten start with visit of Wexford

Finn Harps will be hoping to extend their unbeaten start to the new League of Ireland season tomorrow night when Wexford Youths are the visitors to Ballybofey (kick-off 8.00). Manager Ollie Horgan says his players must up the performance levels to ensure that a win can be secured against Wexford. “Yes we have had a decent start on balance when you consider that we only managed a draw at home to Shelbourne but then went down to Cobh on Saturday night and got a win. People are expecting us to win against Wexford and they got well beaten by Drogheda last Friday night. If our players think that is going to be the case or it will be easy then we will be big in trouble. Wexford have plenty of quality. Lads like Chris Kenny and Thomas Croke have played in the Premier Division. Mark Slater, Ross Kenny and Sean Hurley are decent players and will cause us bother if we are not at the pace of the game from the start to the finish” Horgan said.

The Harps boss is definitely without Gareth Harkin and B.J. Banda with knee injuries while Paddy McCourt is rated as extremely doubtful after damaging a calf muscle in the first half of the Cobh game. On the plus side Aidan Friel is fit to play while Eric Whelan will be in the panel as he continues his recovery from a groin problem.

Injured: Gareth Harkin, B.J. Banda

Doubtful: Eric Whelan, Paddy McCourt
