Calls for a longer-term commitment to mobile mammography unit in Sligo



A Cancer campaigner in Sligo is calling for a clearer committment to the future of the mobile mammography unit at the hospital.

The long-awaited unit which carries out mammograms for breast cancer patients who are five years post-treatment started seeing patients at Sligo University Hospital at the end of 2016.

The unit comes to the hospital twice a year however, concerns have emerged that the contract with the company carrying out this service had not yet been renewed.

While the Saolta Hospital group has confirmed to Ocean FM News this week that the contract will be renewed for another year – cancer campaigner Catriona McGoldrick is calling for a longer-term commitment:
