New farm safety taskforce to report back with recommendations



A new farm safety taskforce will report back in the next month to outline what can be done to increase safety on farms.

The group made up mainly of various Government Department and State Agency representatives met for the first time this week.

The Health and Safety Authority is one of the groups involved.

Its statistics show that out of the 47 people killed in workplace accidents last year, 24 of them were in the agriculture sector.

Speaking to Ocean FM News this evening, he says the group will report back to Ministers Pat Breen whose remit also includes workplace health and safety as well as the Agriculture Minister in the next month:
