Council approves demolition of old Fire Station in Donegal town



The old fire station in Donegal town is to be demolished in the next two weeks to make way for much-needed car-parking spaces in the town.

The Donegal Municipal District meeting yesterday confirmed that the work should now go ahead paving the way for at least 40 new car-parking spaces in the town centre.

A contractor is expected to be appointed in the coming days and the Council has already ringfenced the estimated €30,000 cost of the project.

Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District Independent Councillor Tom Conaghan says the extra spaces should free up traffic during peak school times as well:
