Call for all buildings to be ‘broadband ready’

A Sligo councillor is calling for it to be a condition of planning permission that all business and residential buildings have broadband ducting and wiring in place.

Fianna Fail Councillor Keith Henry says councils have to take action themselves and not be waiting for the government’s national broadband plan.

He says new buildings should be ready to immediately receive fast-fibre broadband whenever it’s eventually rolled out.
