Portnoo Golf Course reopened

Golf is being played at a popular Co Donegal Golf Course again following a temporary closure.

Portnoo Golf Club had been closed recently over legal issue involving the ownership of some of the land.

The club is rated as one of the best golf courses in Ireland and there was shock when the course closed last month.

But following a meeting, members voted unanimously to accept a deal from Donegal born US-businessman Liam McDevitt. He will now take over the club and provide a much needed cash injection.

An initital one year deal has now been agreed with the businessman which will allow golf to be played on the course.

Renovations are also taking place at the clubhouse which is due to open before Easter.

Meanwhile a new Director of golf has been appointed at the club and an architect has also been appointed to draw up a master plan for Portnoon Golf Course.
