Shortage of grants leading to ’embarrassing situations’ for families



A Sligo Councillor says a shortage of grant money for older people is making continuing to live in their own homes more difficult.

There is now a huge backlog of applications in the county for the grants.

Independent Councillor Michael Clarke says it’s even affecting people who have come out of hospital following strokes and amputations.

It’s led to questions on whether it’s even fair to continue accepting applications.
