Hopes grow that deal can be reached over Tory Island ferry after series of meetings



A Donegal County Cllr says he is hopeful that a new ferry will be offered to Tory Islanders.

It’s planned that from April 1st, Tory Island’s current ferry service will be replaced by a vessel built in 1976.

But residents on the island say this in inadequet and they held a protest outside Leinster House last month.

Yesterday they met with Minister  for the Gaeltacht and the Islands Joe McHugh. And Chairperson of the Islands Committee on Donegal County Council, Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easpaig says he is hopeful that a second ferry will be offered later this week…..
