Boil Water notice remains in place in county Sligo

Irish Water is urging people in south Sligo to continue to boil their water.

The Boil water notice remains in place after some of last weeks ongoing sampling was put off due to the weather.

The boil water notice put in place on the 5th of February remains in place.

Irish Water advised the 13,000 people in south and west Sligo affected by the notice over the weekend to continue to boil their water.

The latest briefing from the HSE who is responsible for testing the water at Lough Talt was due on Friday but was postponed until this coming Friday due to the weather.

Efforts are continuing to put in a new planning application to Sligo County Council to upgrade the plant as a matter of urgency.

Meanwhile people in parts of Donegal and Leitrim faced water shortages over the weekend due to the impact of the weather on water plants.

Nearly 50,000 people in the north of Donegal and south Leitrim had disruption to their supply.
