Freezing temperatures may cause problems for farmers

While Storm Emma has passed, the North West is still due to receive freezing temperatures over the next coming days which could negatively affect farmers.

The region missed the brunt of the extreme weather but farmers still have problems to face such as freezing pipes and sufficent housing and hay for animals.

Certain parts remain under some snow and there is a fear that this could cause flloding in areas when it melts.

Colm O’Donnell from the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association says it’s a tough time in general for farmers.
