UPDATE: Gardai investigating the murder of Jimmy Loughlin have charged a man in connection with the incident



Update: 10:30pm Sunday:

A man has been charged in connection with death of a man in Sligo on the 24th February 2018 (Saturday).

Gardaí in Sligo investigating the murder of Jimmy Loughlin have charged a male in connection with the incident. He will appear before Donegal Town district Court at 10.30am tomorrow morning the 26th February 2018.

Update: 5pm Sunday:

A Garda forensic team is continuing its examination this evening of a house in Connolly Street in Sligo where a young man was found dead yesterday afternoon.

Team members are also believed to be also examining another house of apartments in the street.

The man who died has been named locally as Jimmy Loughlin from Kilross, between Ballygawley and Ballintogher.

He had been working part time with McDonalds in Sligo as well as a DJ.

It’s understood he died following an assault.

A 31 year old man remains in custody in Ballymote Garda Station in connection with the incident.
