Sligo Rovers squad now numbers 22 after the Bit O’ Red confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Mitchell Beeney until the end of June.
The 22-year-old, who has already had loan spells at Newport County and Crawley Town, is a member of the Blues’ U23 squad.
He has won the U21 Premier League and the FA Youth Cup with Chelsea and has been a part of the first-team squad for Premier League and European fixtures.
Beeney has also played at U20 and U19 level for England.
Rovers boss Gerard Lyttle says he will provide competition to current number one Micháel Schlingermann…
It’s Rovers’ third signing in the space of just 24 hours, after defenders Patrick McClean and Calum Waters joined from Waterford FC and Kilmarnock respectively yesterday.
Waters says the move came about very quickly for him…
All three players are expected to go straight into the Rovers squad for two home games over the next four days – against Derry City tomorrow and against reigning champions Cork City on Monday.
Donegal’s Paul McLaughlin has been appointed as the referee for tomorrow’s game.
Those games will be live on Ocean FM in association with JBG Security.
Also ahead of tomorrow’s game, Derry City have signed Blackburn Rovers defender Jack Doyle on a season-long loan.
And fellow defender Niall Logue has signed from Ohio State University, having previously played with Irish League side Institute.
