Pro-life and pro-choice groups react to wording of proposed amendment



Pro-life and pro-choice groups in the region have been reacting to the wording for the government’s proposed amendment to the constitution.

The wording, announced yesterday, says ‘provision may be made by law for the regulation of termination of pregnancies.’

The wording, in effect, puts the onus on politicians to pass laws in relation to abortion if people decide in the forthcoming referendum to repeal to 8th Amendment that’s currently in the constitution.
