McLoughlin confident Sligo and north west will be given needed investment in 2040 Plan



Sligo/Leitrim Fine Gael TD Tony McLoughlin says the holding of a cabinet meeting in Sligo this coming Friday will provide the government with the opportunity to see the huge infrastructural deficit that exists in the region.

The cabinet meeting involving the Taoiseach and his ministers will take place in IT Sligo followed by the launch of the National Planning Framework 2040 plan in the afternoon in the Knocknarea Arena.

Sligo is expected to be named regional capital of the northwest in the national planning framework.

There had been complaints that the draft plan failed to plan for any significant population growth north of a line between Dublin and Galway.

Deputy McLoughlin says he wasn’t happy when he saw the draft plan but he’s now confident Sligo and the north west will be given the investment it needs:
