Northwest MEP says Irish beef farmers are being sacrificed in South American deal



A Midlands North West MEP says Irish beef farmers are being sacrificed in the European Commission’s bid to secure a trade deal with South American countries.

Matt Carthy was speaking following reports that the quantity of meat that Mercosur countries would have the right to export into the EU has been increased by almost 100,000 tonnes this year.

Mercosur is a South American trade bloc made up of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
