Irish Water says it will be ‘extremely challenging’ to resolve unsafe water issue in South Silgo



Irish Water have said that it will be ‘extremely challenging’ to the resolve the issue of unsafe water in South and West Sligo.

A boil water notice is in place after the Lough Talt water supply was contaminated with cryptosporidium and over 13,000 customers are effected.

In recent years parts of Co Rosscommon had a boil water notice for 21 months because of a similar water contamination.

Mr. Granahan also says that they are looking at an interim solution until the new plant is built.

However, the question is whether any such measures are strong enough to prevent the supply being contaminated again.

He says they are now looking at every possible option to try and find a solution until the new plant is built:
