13,000 people in south Sligo having to boil their water this morning



About 13,000 people throughout south and west Sligo are having to boil their water this morning.

It’s because of the discovery of cryptosporidium in treated water coming from the Lough Talt Regional Supply Scheme.

The areas affected include the towns of Tubbercurry and Ballymote as well as around Aclare, Curry, Lavagh, Carroweden, Kilmactigue and Coolaney.

Water used for drinking, preparing food that is not cooked, brushing teeth and making ice must be boiled.
