Respite services are to be restored for families in Sligo and Leitrim.

In recent months a campaign has been ongoing following the closure of the Solas centre in Ballytivnan last year.

The move affected at least 28 families whose family members had to travel to Monaghan to avail of the service.

However, the HSE has now received half a million euro to provide a respite service from a house in Tullaghan in Leitrim.
