Bonner impressed by Donegal’s battling qualities in Kerry

Declan Bonner says he was able to take a number of positives from last weekend’s narrow defeat to Kerry in their league opener.

Donegal hit 3-14 despite being reduced to 14 men following the early sending-off of league debutant Nathan Mullins, but lost out by a controversial late Kerry point.

Ahead of Sunday’s round two tie against Galway in Letterkenny, Bonner says he was impressed by the efforts of his players despite their numerical disadvantage in Killarney…

Ballyshannon’s Peter Boyle is set to start in goal on Sunday, with former Sligo Rovers goalkeeper Shaun Patton providing back-up, after Mark Anthony McGinley picked up an injury in Kerry last weekend.

Boyle says that the competition is healthy for the number one jersey…

Sunday’s game throws-in at 2.30pm in O’Donnell Park, and is a double-header along with the Donegal-Derry National Hurling League tie, which throws-in at 12.30pm.

There will be live coverage of Donegal versus Galway on Ocean FM thanks to Donegal Plumbing & Bathroom Supplies.

Meanwhile, Donegal County Board say that no restrictions will be in place for those travelling to Sunday’s game via Ballybofey.

Donegal County Council have given an update on the roadworks on the N13 between Kilross and Stranorlar at Tircallen and say the road closure will be in force from Friday at 7pm and the contractor will work to ensure that the culvert is fitted and the road is tarred prior to Sunday morning.

It is hoped that the road will then be fully re-opened to allow traffic to flow without restrictions on the road.

If the works are not completed by Sunday morning, the traffic coming from Ballybofey will be permitted to travel on one lane of the road without restrictions, while the diversion will remain in place for traffic coming from Letterkenny.

For traffic leaving the game in Letterkenny, the diversion will be reversed to allow traffic from the match to travel without restriction.
