Leitrim Superintendent warns against people ‘taking law into their own hands’



Gardai have warned against people taking the law into their own hands in cases of local crime.

It follows an incident of false imprisonment in January of last year when a youngster was bundled into a car while walking out towards the mart in Manorhamilton.

Leitrim Gardai say they believe it followed on from the person in question being suspected of having carried out a number of burglaries in and around the town.

The man was later let go unharmed.

The issue came to light following a Joint Policing Committee meeting in Leitrim this week.

Superintendent Kevin English spoke exclusively to Ocean FM News following that meeting and said these issues should only be pursued by the Authorities:
