Former Senator welcomes new Good Friday drinking laws



A Sligo publican is welcoming the passing of new laws that now pave the way for pubs to open on Good Friday.

The bill was passed in the Dail yesterday afternoon and is expected to be signed into law by the President before this years Good Friday.

It will mean that people can purchase alcohol on Good Friday for the first time in 90 years.

Local pub owner Imelda Henry who originally put forward the amendments to the current bill when she was a Fine Gael Senator says is a busy time of the year and the move is welcome:
