Owners of Abbey Manor Hotel face prosecution by Council



The owners of the Abbey Manor Hotel in Dromahair face prosecution for failing to abide by Council orders to make the derelict building safe and secure.

The building which is a protected structure has now fallen into an unsightly and dangerous state.

Locals believe it’s a source of at best anti-social behaviour and at worst a breeding ground for local crime.

Senior Planner with the Council Bernard Greene says the situation in complicated as the original owners were a consortium who built the hotel during the boom however some of these owners have passed away.

The Council says there was hope that another commercial use may be found for the building but these suggestions have not amounted to anything.

Mr. Greene confirmed to Ocean FM News that they have served notices on the owners under two separate acts and have not received a response.

He says as a resolution looks unlikely and they will now have to consider legal action:
