Concern over ‘dangerous’ Sligo town junction



A local councillor has voiced fears of a fatality at a junction on the N4 Inner Relief road that goes through Sligo town.

Sinn Fein Councillor Chris MacManus, whose party office is at the junction, says some motorists are speeding down a nearby hill as they try to beat the traffic lights.

One recent accident on the Inner Relief Road at Church Hill involved three vehicles.

Cllr MacManus says that in another case, a person who was standing in the area would have been killed if a crash had occurred thirty seconds earlier.

He raised the issue at this week’s Municipal District meeting of Sligo County Council:
