Film director, with strong Co Sligo connection, tipped for Oscar glory



Irish film maker Martin McDonagh is in pole position for Oscar glory after his movie scopped a number of awards at the Screen Actors Guild awards.

McDonaghs ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ won in the best actress, best supporting actor and cast performance categories.

The SAGs are often considered the barometer for Oscar hopes. The nominations are announced later today.

‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ is favourite for best picture.

Martin McDonaghs mother is from Co Sligo.
