Fairgreen Recreational Park fails to get government grant

If you’re applying for a government sports grant, you need to make sure every box is ticked.

That’s the advice from an official of Sligo County Council after it emerged that a grant application from the council for the Fairgreen Recreational Park in Sligo town was unsuccessful.

Director of Services Tom Kilfeather explained that the reason was because the council’s ownerhip of the property was not fully registered with the Land Registry.

It’s believed a number of other applications under the Capital Sports Programme were also unsuccessful for the same reason.

Mr Kilfeather says there seems to be a tightening up of the regulations and people need to be aware of this when making funding applications.
