Fianna Fail TD Eamon Scanlon says he received support for drink-driving comments

A Sligo/Leitrim TD has said that he has received support from people after he said drivers should be allowed to drive after drinking two alcoholic drinks.

Fianna Fail Deputy, Eamon Scanlon made the comments last month.

He claimed that Ireland’s drink-driving laws are already strict enough.

And speaking in the Dail this week, Deputy Scanlon said he stands by the comments he made:

Meanwhile, the Dáil has voted in favour of a bill that would see people lose their licences if caught drink driving.

However Shane Ross initially voted against his own bill in the Dáil, later correcting the record.
