Donegal’s McKenna Cup semi-final moved to Saturday

The Dr McKenna Cup semi-final between Donegal and Armagh has been re-fixed for this Saturday in Mac Cumhaill Park.

That’s after a pitch inspection at the Ballybofey venue this morning deemed the pitch unplayable after three days of heavy rain and snow.

Tonight’s postponement means that the final against Tyrone, which was due to take place this Sunday, will instead take place in the second weekend in February.

That is the first weekend’s break in the Allianz National Football Leagues, which get underway on Sunday week.

Speaking after the 4-17 to 0-19 defeat of Monaghan that earned them a place in the semi-finals last weekend, Donegal boss Declan Bonner said he welcomed the extra competitive action.
