Three new psychologists for CAMHS will reduce waiting times

A spokesman for a suicide prevention and counselling service in the north west is welcoming the announcement of three new psychology posts for the region.

It comes after the HSE confirmed that two psychologists have started working with the Child Adolescent and Mental Health Service.

A third will take up a position on January 22nd.

Dermot Lahiff is a counsellor with STOP Suicide based in Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, which coordinates about 20 counsellors in the region.

The new HSE appointments should mean teenagers who need help are seen quicker, something Mr Lahiff says is critical when it comes to suicide prevention.
