Sligo Cllr says it’s important Countess Markievicz honoured this year



A Sligo councillor is calling for the county council to make a special effort to celebrate Countess Markievicz this year.

It’s to mark the centenary of the election of Countess Markievicz to the House of Commons.

It’s also 100 years since the right to vote was given to women.

Later this year, Countess Markievicz’s will be celebrated at Westminster.

But Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor Keith Henry says that with her close links to Sligo, the county should also mark her efforts and achievements:
