Three sheep killed in Sligo dog attack

With the busy lambing season on the way, dog owners are being warned to keep their animals under control at all times

It follows a sheep attack in County Sligo this week during which three sheep were killed and others injured in the Rosses Point area.

Sligo County Concil’s dog warden attended at the scene of the attack.

The council says that at this time of the year, with ewes heavily in lamb, any annoyance to sheep can cause them to lose their offspring.

It also points out that dog owners are liable for all costs if their dog attacks sheep and that a landowner has the right to shoot any dog on their property which is a threat to livestock.
