Leitrim mother appeals for more education on the impacts of drunken violence



A Leitrim mother whose son was killed as a result of a night-time assault in Mullingar 6 years ago says that children as young as twelve need to be taught the consequences of violent behaviour.

Rosie and Joe Dolan own the Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Their 20 year old son Andrew was violently assaulted outside a chip-shop after a night out in Mullingar over Christmas in 2011. He later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Rosie Dolan is supporting the campaigns by both the Gardai and groups like Comhairle na nOg for better education on fight injuries.

But she says it’s important not to wait and to go into schools early:
