Councils on alert for high tides and more wind and rain

Update from Sligo County Council at 10am:

The Gibraltar Road, Sligo has been re-opened to traffic, the Coast Road at Easkey remains closed.

While roads throughout the county have been cleared, motorists and other road users are asked to remain vigilant as  there is the ongoing danger of vulnerable trees weakened by storms over the last few days.

Update: 7am Thursday Jan 4th:

Councils in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are on alert for the year’s highest tide this morning.

It comes as a wind warning remains in place for many counties in the West and there is heavy rain with reports of spot flooding on most routes.

The high tide was at 7am this morning and some roads may be closed as a result.

Some roads such as the Mardyke and Quay Street carpark in Sligo town are closed but should reopen around 8:30am.
