Sligo County Council hopes work can resume on N17



There is hope that work to upgrade the N17 could get the go-ahead in the coming years again after the plans were axed in the recession.

Plans for the bypass of Tubbercurry and the upgrade of the road between Collooney and Tubbercurry were at an advanced stage a few years ago.

But due to a lack of funding the plans were suspended in 2011.

However, Transport Infrastructure Ireland has allocated €25,000 to the N17 this year.

Director of Services at Sligo County Council Tom Kilfeather says while this allocation is small it’s significant:
