Two births in the New Year for the North West



There were two babies born in the North West over the new year.

Both were born in Letterkenny University Hospital with Marie Boyle welcoming baby Chantelle, the name coming from French meaning singer or to sing, at 1:25am.

While Pamela Ewing gave birth to baby Freya, the name of the Old Norse God of Love, at 2:05am.

There were no New Years births in Sligo University Hospital.

Limerick welcomed the first New Years baby in the country at seven seconds past midnight and University Hospital Waterford saw the birth of the second baby of 2018 at 23 minutes past twelve.
