Black ice warning issued for Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal this morning



Motorists are being asked to look out for black ice on the roads this morning.

A widespread severe frost overnight has led to icy conditions in most parts of the country and some snow showers are expected in places.

Met Eireann’s status yellow snow and ice warning remains in place until 9 o’clock this evening.

In Donegal, Gardai are reports of icy conditions on the Letterkenny/Glenties Rd (R250) between Glen Swilly and Fintown. Particular care is needed at Meenaroy.

In Sligo, Gardaí are reporting very icy conditions on the Collooney/Ballintogher Rd (R290) between Ballygawley and Ballintogher.

While in Leitrim roads are particularly bad around Dromahair.
